Three Factors That Empower Authors to Contribute to Your Intranet

Catherine Grenfell of Step Two Designs examines the importance of authors to the success of an intranet. She urges intranet teams to focus on empowering potential authors, and identifies the three most important factors that determine success or failure of steady activity:

  1. The Big Picture — authors need a clear understanding of where their content fits within the intranet
  2. Technical Skills — authors must be confident they know how to write and / or publish content
  3. Sense of Ownership — the motivation to contribute, including clearly defined responsibilities
