Good Governance Should be About Policy, not Politics
A focus on resolving policy – instead of political – disagreements appears to be helping Senate Democrats more health care legislation closer to reality:
Faced with Republican opposition that many Democrats saw as driven more by politics than policy disagreements, Senate Democrats in recent days gained new determination to bridge differences among themselves and prevail over the opposition. [Senator Evan] Bayh said that the health care measure was the kind of public policy he had come to Washington to work on, according to officials who attended the session, and that he did not want to see the satisfied looks on the faces of Republican leaders if they succeeded in blocking the measure.
Governance should be about policy, not politics. It’s good to see a senator affirming this publicly.

When the republicans had control, the dems blocked a number of important bills. This appears to be payback. We need new congressional rules

Good point on Congressional rules. We need more legislators to realize that they’re in Washington to work on policy, not talk to the cable shows and spread political rhetoric.
