PBwiki Campus Edition: Unlimited Wikis for $799/year

PBwikiGood news for educators and schools: Chris Yeh from PBwiki wrote to tell me the company has dramatically lowered education pricing, and introduced a new product called Campus Edition:

With PBwiki Campus Edition, a school can roll out an unlimited number of PBwikis for its classes, clubs, and other student activities. Previously, schools had to purchase wikis individually. Campus Edition includes PBwiki’s market-leading ease-of-use and customer service, making it an ideal choice to introduce students, teachers, parents, and guardians to the benefits of hosted collaboration.

Last week, Matt Wiseley wrote an article here about how per-user pricing can be an obstacle to adoption, so it’s nice to see PBwiki moving to a pricing model for education that provides ample room for growth. Matt’s company, EditMe, also uses adoption-oriented pricing.

  1. Introducing the educational sector to a more collaborative, wiki environment is going to show schools & professors how much more powerful their classroom portal can be (compared to that of Blackboard – what was used when I was in college).

MindTouch does all that’s listed above BUT we also allow the users to install on their own servers and own the data. MindTouch has made a serious dent in the educational sector with school district and university customers like:

    Educate-Online
Fairbanks North Star Borough School District
    Humbolt University
    Univ. Of Albany
    Victoria University
    Dearborn School District of Michigan
    Harvard Kennedy School
    BYU
