History of the Internet: Using Design to Tell a Story of Data

History of the Internet. This is an amazing animated documentary produced by Melih Bilgil, a freelance graphic designer in Germany. The video was produced for his diploma in graphic design at FH-Mainz University of Applied Sciences.

The story is told with the help of PICOL (Pictorial Communication Language) icons, which Bilgil created for the diploma project. The set of 22 icons is intended to be, “a standard and reduced sign system for electronic communication. PICOL is free to use and open to alter.”
