Stockholm U. department powers public website with wiki; report on “Wikis in Higher Education”

Stockholm University

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Stockholm University powers its public website with a wiki. Members of the department can edit and update pages on the site just as they would contribute to any other wiki, and the site appears to the public just like a standard website – with some enhancements available as a result of the wiki.

For example, any user can view a page’s revision history, which is useful if you’re looking for a piece of information that was available in the past such as an old news item, or if you want to see the growth of information on a page. The latter is useful in cases like the research project page, where a look at the revision history can show you how the department’s research has grown over time, which projects are the newest, and in which ones the department has significant experience.
