- Want to edit wiki-style in real time? “SynchroEdit is a browser-based simultaneous multiuser editor, a form of same-time, different-place groupware. It allows multiple users to edit a single web-based document at the same time, and it continuously synchronizes all changes so that users always have the same version.
- Wired has published Veni, Vidi, Wiki, the article which was put on a wiki for editing two weeks ago. I was pleased to see that the emphasis on education I suggested is part of the article, and Vicki Davis was featured as well! Ross Mayfield has a good post in which he says “There were some real gems, particularly in the education section. …Someone suggested an expert to Ryan on the Comments page, but he didn’t have time to interview her. She got word of the experiment and contributed persistent edits herself.” That someone was me – Ross I love your blog, but give me props next time! Several bloggers are commenting that people who edited the wiki did so in a self-promoting way by adding links to their sites and products. I was careful not to do this, and I’d like to see others in the wiki community reward this kind of positive behavior by giving it equal time in their blog posts, as it helps the public see the wiki in a balanced way.
- SimTeach is running the Second Life Education Wiki, a site for educators using Second Life for projects & research in their courses. Second Life has really taken off – when I was at the NMC Summer Conference in June, Second Life played a very big role.
