Free Wikispaces for Educators

Here’s a coincidence: last night I happened to be looking at http://caw.wikispaces.com, a place for Brown University students to review their classes – tonight I got an email from Adam Frey, one of the co-founders of Wikispaces! Adam wrote to tell me that Wikispaces has decided to offer wiki spaces free of charge and free of ads to K-12 teachers. According to Adam, “These wikis can be public orprivate, have no advertising on them, provide unlimited usage, and are
completely free. (Normally, our free spaces have advertising on them and
our private spaces cost $5 a month.)”

If you need a wiki space, or are thinking of trying a wiki for the first time, this is a good way to get started. On that note, I’m impressed more every day with how wiki people get it – they don’t just talk about changing the world, they’re smart enough to put their tools where change starts – with teachers.

  1. Just stopped by your site and thought that you’d be interested in http://www.wikiweb.org, a collaborative lesson plan wiki that I’ve been working on since the start of the school year.
